Parent Coaching
If you have come to this page then it is a good bet that your relationship with your child is a high priority. While all parents go through conflict and challenges, I will help you get to the root of these challenges and offer you practical insights and positive suggestions and tools to get back to a stronger, happier, and healthier family life. There are so many benefits to coaching but like many of the parents I have coached, I think you will find this experience to be a great time to reconnect to your children, redefine your parenting identity and just regain your balance and focus. Most importantly, having support and guidance as you learn to successfully naviagate some of your parenting struggles will give you renewed confidence, energy and enthuasiam as a parent.
What is a parent coach?
A parent coach works with you to help you become the parent YOU want to be. A parent coach is trained to expertly guide you to refine your parenting approaches in ways that will address the challenges in your family, as well as create lots of positive changes, and deep transformation for your entire family. Having a parent coach is an effective way to work alongside you and help you come up with practical, long-term solutions to parenting challenges; as well as help you use your talents and strengths optimally for the best results possible for your family. Parenting Coaching is a collaborative partnership and intentional coaching process that helps you find what is currently working well within the family, as well as identify and navigate the areas that you would like to strengthen and improve to have a stronger family life. While a parent coach is NOT a therapist, you certainly can expect lot of compassion, support and understanding. A PCI®(Parenting Coach Institute) Certified Coach is a highly trained, caring family support professional, with a background in education, as well as years of experience working with parents, who has also completed a comprehensive academic one year-graduate level program affiliated with Seattle Pacific University and has graduated from the Parent Coaching Institute®.
How does the coaching process work?
Parent coaching is a collaborative process that unfolds over time. While you will start to have some clarity and be in a better place after the first few sessions, the process works best in 10-12 sessions spread out over 3 months. Understanding that you are the expert on your family, I guide and support you in forming a deeper connection between you and your children, building increased confidence in parenting decisions, gaining new energy and helping you find more balance and peace at home. I do this using living systems theory, appreciative inquiry™, brain compatible parenting™, and tools from a variety of parenting philosophies. Because coaching is a personalized service, the duration of the coaching relationship can vary from client to client. If there is a specific issue we can often handle that in fewer sessions. Coaching sessions occury weekly, last 50-55 minutes and typically take place over the phone, although face-to-face sessions, or ZOOM calls may certainly be arranged. I will work around your schedule, so you can talk when the children are napping; or during your lunch hour; or really anytime during the day when you have a free hour in your schedule. I have a free, 20 minute phone consultation available if you have more questions about the process.
